  • Day Six

This is from my “Treat LinkedIn Like a Blog” series.

Day 6 of treating LinkedIn like a blog.

I will stop counting eventually. 🙂 Maybe even move onto an actual blog. Imagine that!

Sunday morning was spent messing around with the UI/UX on my “100 hours” project. After sifting through some stock images I whipped out Sebastian’s tube feed supplies and created my own background image. The nicks in the wood just add character, right? 🙂 Then all I did was invert the colors in Photoshop to make a dark mode toggle image. The purple theme is kind of perfect since it is a popular feed supply color (the other option is blue).

A few months ago I connected Google Analytics with my tube feed web app. Other than a spike in views whenever I’ve publicly shared the link, it appears there are about 20 regular users per week. I need to show the tubie communities how to download it to their home screens so I have that data as well. (In case you have no idea what I am referring to, I will share the link to my original post in the comments!)

I’m excited because, thanks to 100devs and Appwrite, this is the week I plan to add user profiles so folks can save their feed histories, etc.

    Fingers crossed it works out!

  • Day Five

This is from my “Treat LinkedIn Like a Blog” series.

Day 5 of treating LinkedIn like a blog in order to make it less intimidating. 🙂

For the last 1.5 years I’ve mostly studied on my laptop at the kitchen table, a cozy chair, or on my bed. Terrible, I know.

In the last couple months I started borrowing my husband’s portable second monitor and it’s made such a huge difference in regards to my productivity.

So I permanently upgraded and have been using my tiny desk space more regularly. I feel like I’ve wasted so much precious time being a study nomad.

Well here she is. My little work space. You can find me here weekdays between 3:30am-4:30am and/or 9pm-10pm and weekends at…uhhh…it varies. Because kids. 🙂

  • Day Four

This is from my “Treat LinkedIn Like a Blog” series.

Day 4 of treating LinkedIn like my little bloggy blog.

I wrote something up the other day and deleted it all. It was too much. Too open. I tried again, same thing. Depressing word vomit. Third time’s the charm?

The gist of the story is that I wish I was more like Sebastian, my medically complex kiddo. And I sort of am. We are both hanging out on the sidelines, wishing we were in the game. At least we are moving forward, regardless of the pace. And forward is forward.

His innocent little heart focuses on the positive. His smile is infectious and sincere. I wish I could smile through all the parts, too.

Don’t get me wrong, Seb definitely has it harder. The kid is a champ. Yet the parallels are inevitable when we are both longing to be somewhere we can’t reach just yet. (insert short joke 🙃 )

Well there you go. Maybe that was a bit much, too.

    Baby steps.

  • Day Three

This is from my “Treat LinkedIn Like a Blog” series.

Day 3 of treating LinkedIn like my blog. 🙂

While I thought I just wanted to lay around and do nothing this weekend, I’m glad my husband organized another karaoke night. I’ve never been a “karaoke person” until we started having elaborate karaoke nights at home. Definitely changed my tune! (*bad um tss*) 😆

Other than almost losing my voice, I also took my kiddo to swim. Her coach said really nice things and suggested a summer swim league. Are we about to get super busy? 😅

The rest of the day was filled with family time and my very first Houston Code and Coffee. I was so excited when I saw a familiar face – Jennifer T.! We chatted about our journeys, talked to some other people about math (I always recommend Khan Academy) and React (I always recommend Scrimba), and then caught up with Eric R. before parting ways.
    Thanks for the invite, Eric!
And now for a full five day work week. I hope it treats you well!

Photos: My sister and I singing Rain Over Me, documentation of outfit efforts, Lila swimming beautifully, and my tech pals! ❤️
(psst…what is your fave song for karaoke?)

  • Day Two

This is from my “Treat LinkedIn Like a Blog” series.

Day 2 of treating LinkedIn like my blog. 🙂

Thanks to the aforementioned snow, one of the twins woke me up a few minutes before my 3:30 alarm. Five milliliters of motrin and one breathing treatment later, I got started on Codewars practice.

Motherhood has made me a morning person. A wee-hours-of-the-morning person. An everyone-is-asleep-for-at-least-2-more-hours person.

Everything is quiet. And I can focus.
Things I wish I had discovered a year ago. But here we are. 🙂

(If you’ve been following on Twitter, I *just* took my Christmas tree down. It provided such wonderful “office” lighting. Luckily my sister hooked me up with some beautiful star lights I am going to hang soon!)

  • Day One

This is from my “Treat LinkedIn Like a Blog” series.

Day one of treating LinkedIn like my old (retired) blog. 🙂

This past weekend I celebrated my birthday. I also received my acceptance letter into an amazing cohort where I will have the opportunity to grow in more ways than one.

I felt like such a jerk because I could not focus on celebrating my wins when my first ever technical interview was looming. Regardless of the fact that I had been waking up at 3:30AM to get some extra studying in, as most firsts go, I bombed the interview. I learned a lot and allowed myself part of a day (ok maybe a full day) to wallow. I am coming out of the fog today, and am feeling grateful. As we have learned in 100devs, it’s one in sixty. I’ve met some goals these last few months, and have a couple opportunities ahead. Time to get back to work.
The growth is slow, but it’s there. <3

Enjoy a bday selfie and some beautiful snow day pics of my kiddos.
